A Brief History of Fraser
There is little or no mention of the area that is today’s Fraser before the middle of the 19th century. The village, now a city, arose as a crossroads community somewhere around the 1850s. The first residents were German immigrants that were generally better off than other immigrants. In 1851 a turnpike was being built to connect the city of Utica, and that is the true beginning of Fraser as a community.
The city was named after a lawyer Alexander J. Frazer that moved to the area in 1858.
It wasn’t until 1894 that the city was officially incorporated into a village, and it steadily grew until it was incorporated into a city in 1956.
